Can you be a vector of Phytophthora ramorum? You bet! But you don’t have to be.

When you are in infected areas:

• Park only in designated areas

• Stay on trails

• Do not collect wood, plant matter, or soil

• Avoid muddy areas.

Before leaving infected areas:

• Clean soil and mud off shoes, bike tires, horses’ hooves, and pets’ paws

• Wash mud and soil off your vehicle’s tires, wheel wells, and undercarriage.

If a tree on your property must be cut, or if you have tree work done:

Iinsist that sterilized tools be used, and make sure workers follow recommendations of the Oak Mortality Task Force.
