Put a Whale on Your Tail with the Coastal Protection License Plate.

The Coastal Protection License Plate sponsored by the California Coastal Commission and the California Coastal Conservancy gives drivers a way to help protect and restore the priceless resources of California's coast and ocean. Proceeds from the plate will support the annual Coastal Cleanup Day which each year turns out thousands of volunteers to clean beaches, waterways, and parks each fall, the year 'round Adopt-A-Beach program, where groups sign up to care for their favorite beach on a continuing basis, the highly acclaimed Save Our Seas school program which seeks to stop pollution through education, and the Coastal Conservancy's beach access and habitat restoration programs. The plate was designed by prominent environmental artist Wyland!

A portion of the first year's fee goes to the DMV for administrative fees (about $20); the remainder of the first year fee and 100% of the renewal fees go to support coastal environmental education, beach cleanups, restoration projects, and other projects to preserve and enhance environmenatl resources. The renewal fee is $40 annually for sequential license plates, and $65 annually for personalized plates.
